About the Authors

Timothy Leary, D.D.S.

Dr Timothy Leary maintained a fee for service practice in northern California for 35 years. He graduated from the University of Pacific, Arthur Dugoni School of Dentistry. Using the Schuster Method, he transformed his insurance driven practice to a patient-centered, health-centered model focused on professional fulfillment, clinical and managerial excellence, and profitability. With the Schuster method Dr. Leary attracted long term, loyal patients and staff, and generated financial reserves for advanced clinical training in restorative dentistry, time off, and eventual retirement. He achieved exemplary success for patient acceptance of full-mouth, complete dental care. His passion for health and teaching led him to co-author this book with Dr. Schuster, aiming to share the Schuster Model and his knowledge and experience with a broader audience.

Their Collaboration

Dr. Leary and Dr. Schuster’s partnership is built on a shared commitment to transforming the dental profession. Dr. Leary asked Dr. Schuster to document his extraordinary professional career and how he created the Schuster model. Dr Schuster agreed to the project only if their book included stories of dentists whose lives and practices were transformed by the Schuster model. Together, they have combined their extensive experience and knowledge to write A Better Way to Practice Dentistry, a book that provides practical strategies for building a successful and fulfilling dental practice. Dr. Leary and Dr. Schuster’s approach to dentistry is deeply rooted in the belief that patient care should always come first.
